Undergraduate Minor

Department

Legal Studies

Overview

The Department of Legal Studies minor program is well suited for students seeking to understand the universal role of law in society. This minor is available to all undergraduate students.

Curriculum

The minor in legal studies is 18 credit hours and provides a solid foundation of the legal system without the student having to change their intended major. These hours are broken down as follows: Law and the Legal System (required), and 15 credit hours of PLA Elective courses from a variety of concentration areas. For more information and appropriate class scheduling, please view the UCF Undergraduate Catalog.

Declaring a Minor in Legal Studies

The minor can be declared by following one of three different methods:

  • In your myUCF account, select "Student Self Service," then "Add/Change Major" and follow the instructions on the screen.
  • Stop by the Undergraduate Affairs Office in ED 110, and complete the Minor Declaration form.
  • Stop by the UCF Registrar’s Office in Millican Hall and complete the Minor Declaration form.

Students are strongly encouraged to declare a minor using one of these steps as early as possible but no later than the submission of their UCF Intent to Graduate Form, which must be completed the semester before the student plans on graduating.
